Although for most of the summer, I have been battling bugs in my organic garden, this month, we’re going to discuss another type of bug. Our featured products this month are the NEWTON homeopathics Flu Care, Sick Stopper, and Throat Care complexes, just a few of several complexes to have on hand during the cold and flu season.
The NEWTON Flu Care is formulated for symptoms associated with colds and flu such as aches, discomfort, fatigue, labored breathing, vomiting, cramping, and other related symptoms. According to the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States (HPUS), homeopathic Influenzinum must be made from the inactivated influenza virus vaccine designated by the World Health Organization (WHO). It is believed that this homeopathic influenza carries the molecular imprint of the proteins and other constituents of the pathological agent. The effectiveness is based on the theory that the immune system is sensitized to these signature “imprints” without being exposed to the virulence of the living agent.
It is time to stock your medicine cabinet with homeopathic remedies, so you are prepared if/when the bugs find you. When you are sick, running a fever, aching, coughing, experiencing diarrhea or just feeling like crap, is not the time you want to go out to the health food store. Additionally, as with any medication, homeopathy is believed to work best if taken immediately at the onset of symptoms. So – have it handy in your medicine cabinet.
The NEWTON Flu Care complex contains homeopathic Influenzinum made from several strains. All years’ strains are sourced from INFLUVAC’s inactivated influenza virus vaccines that are issued as directed by WHO. The ever-changing mutations of influenza make it virtually impossible to assess the usefulness of a particular strain within that same year of disease transmission. However, homeopathy is believed to work on the energetic level, therefore any given homeopathic Influenzinum is thought to be applicable to most varieties of influenza. See our Winter Wellness brochure for a listing of the Influenzinum strains included in the Flu Care complex.
Additional homeopathic remedies are included to address the most common flu symptoms. As always, the remedy indications cited are according to traditional homeopathic practice and not based on double-blind randomized studies funded by pharmaceutical companies. According to the Federal Trade Commission, there is no scientific-medical evidence that homeopathy works.
Aconitum napellus is indicated for fever and chills. Kali carbonicum and Phosphorus are indicated for colds and coughs. Baptisia, Gelsemium, and Echinacea are indicated for aching. Bryonia and Aralia quinquefolia are indicated for headaches. In addition, numerous other remedies are included for symptoms such as tiredness, weakness, nausea and vomiting, and labored breathing.
The FDA has stated that homeopathics cannot be used or advertised as a prophylactic and NEWTON makes no claim that our product will “vaccinate” you against the flu. However, homeopathic Influenzinum has historically been used during epidemics and in preparation for the modern vaccination process. Flu Care may be administered once a day and increased as needed or as directed by a health professional. Consider taking the NEWTON Flu Care complex once a day during flu season and increase the frequency if you suspect you have been exposed to the flu or begin to exhibit flu-like symptoms.
The NEWTON Sick Stopper complex is one of my favorite travel companions. It’s a general all-around “not feeling well but doesn’t know exactly what it is” complex. Rather than packing a half dozen complexes, I pack the Sick Stopper complex. Sick Stopper is formulated for symptoms associated with colds and infections.
Aconitum napellus and Agaricus muscarius are indicated for cough and Thuja and Anthracinum are indicated for diarrhea. Bryonia and Echinacea are indicated for nausea. Nux vomica, Bufo rana, Baptisia, and Pyrogenium are indicated for fevers. Each single remedy has additional indications and additional single remedies are included for symptoms such as indigestion, headache, congestion, aching, and sneezing.
Consider keeping a bottle of NEWTON’s Sick Stopper in your car, in your medicine cabinet, and in your suitcase. Consider taking a dose at the onset of symptoms and repeat as needed. One can then switch to a more symptom-specific complex such as Cold-Sinus, Cough-Airway, Diarrhea, Morning Sickness-Nausea, Fever-Infection, or Headache if necessary.
Although NEWTON’s Throat Care complex is most often considered for a sore throat, it is formulated for associated symptoms such as dryness, irritation, inflammation, pain, and hoarseness. That means, consider it for not only a sore throat but a singer’s throat, a lecturer’s throat, or a teacher’s throat. Some find it helpful to switch out the Euro-dropper with a spray top which allows them to spray at the back of the throat. Many, including Apis, Kali bichromicum, Echinacea, Lachesis, and Phytolacca are specifically indicated for a sore throat. Aconitum napellus, Spongia tosta, Stannum metallicum, and Arum dracontium are indicated for hoarseness, and Mercurius vivus for a hoarse rough voice. Belladonna, Naja tripudians and Bryonia are indicated for a dry throat. Cajuputum, Glycyrrhiza glabra, Natrum sulphuricum, and Nux vomica are indicated for a cough. Other single remedies are also included for related symptoms.
Although an appropriate complex for the cold and flu season, don’t put Throat Care in a box by limiting it to the flu and cold season. Speakers of all sorts may benefit from its actions as may those suffering from allergies, smokers (check out the Tobacco Withdrawal complex), or those suffering from environmental fires or fumes.
Take advantage of our September Flu Care, Sick Stopper, and Throat Care sale by stocking your medicine chest now, before you need them. Consider adding Cold-Sinus, Cough-Airway, Diarrhea, Morning Sickness-Nausea, Fever-Infection, or Headache if you don’t already have them on hand. Remember, our complexes have no expiration date.
