I love November in Georgia. It’s usually not terribly cold like it is in my home state of Wisconsin. It’s time to harvest the remainder of my sweet potatoes and start dreaming about my spring garden. It is the beginning of the holidays – Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, and a Happy NEWTON Year. But, while we are in the good storm of the holiday season, we are also in the midst of another storm. Although these complexes are appropriate at other times of the year, November frequently calls for these.
NEWTON homeopathics® Cold Sores is formulated for symptoms associated with eruptions and sores of the lips and mouth such as itching, crusting, redness, and pain.
The NEWTON homeopathics® Cold Sores complex, based on traditional homeopathic practice, includes Cantharis (Spanish fly), indicated for itching vesicles with burning pain on being touched. Mezereum (olive spurge) is indicated for honey-like scabs around the mouth, and Petroleum (crude rock oil) is indicated for eruptions, especially on the face and lips. Dulcamara (woody nightshade) and Sarsaparilla (wild liquorice) are indicated for cold sores on lips. Graphites (black lead) is indicated for moist, crusty eruptions, oozing out a sticky exudate. Arsenicum album (arsenic trioxide) and Ranunculus bulbosus (buttercup) are indicated for itching.
The best time to administer is at the onset of that tingling and itching feeling. However, that can happen in the middle of the night – not the time to head to a health food store.
NEWTON homeopathics® Flu Care is formulated for symptoms associated with colds and flu such as aches, discomfort, fatigue, labored breathing, vomiting, and cramping.
According to the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States (HPUS), homeopathic Influenzinum must be made from the inactivated influenza virus vaccine designated by the World Health Organization (WHO). It is believed that this homeopathic influenza carries the molecular imprint of the proteins and other constituents of the pathological agent. The effectiveness is based on the theory that the immune system is sensitized to these signature “imprints” without being exposed to the virulence of the living agent.
NEWTON homeopathics® Flu Care complex contains homeopathic Influenzinum made from several strains. All years’ strains are sourced from INFLUVAC’s inactivated influenza virus vaccines that are issued as directed by WHO. The ever-changing mutations of influenza make it virtually impossible to assess the usefulness of a particular strain within that same year of disease transmission. However, homeopathy is believed to work on an energetic level, therefore any given homeopathic Influenzinum is thought to be applicable to most varieties of influenza. See our Winter Wellness brochure for a listing of the Influenzinum strains included in the Flu Care complex.
Additional homeopathic remedies are included for the most common flu symptoms, based on traditional homeopathic practice. Aconitum napellus (monkshood) is indicated for fever and chills. Kali carbonicum (potassium carbonate) and Phosphorus are indicated for colds and coughs. Baptisia tinctoria (wild indigo), Gelsemium sempervirens (yellow jasmine), and Echinacea (cone flower) are indicated for aching. Bryonia (wild hops) and Aralia quinquefolia (ginseng) are indicated for headaches. In addition, numerous other remedies are included for symptoms such as tiredness, weakness, nausea, vomiting, and labored breathing.
The FDA has stated that homeopathics cannot be used or advertised as a prophylactic and NEWTON makes no claim that our product will “vaccinate” you against the flu. However, homeopathic Influenzinum has historically been used during epidemics. Flu Care may be administered once a day and increased as needed or as directed by a health professional. Although Flu Care is not a replacement for vaccination nor recognized as a preventative, some people take it daily during flu season.
NEWTON homeopathics® Fever-Infection is formulated for associated symptoms such as aches, chills, fatigue, sweating, nausea, and loss of appetite.
Based on traditional homeopathic practice, Bryonia (wild hops) is indicated for a cough with sneezing, fever, nausea, and vomiting. Arsenicum album (arsenic trioxide) and Eupatorium perfoliatum (feverwort) are indicated for exhaustion. Anthracinum (anthrax bacillus) is indicated for loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting. Cinchona officinalis (Peruvian bark) is indicated for the stages of chills, fever, and sweating. Iodium (iodine) and Pyrogenium (decomposed lean beef) are indicated for restlessness, and Verbascum thapsus (common mullein) and Ferrum metallicum (metallic iron) are indicated for cough. Baptisia tinctoria (wild indigo) is indicated for an indescribable sick feeling all over. Chamomilla (German chamomile) and Hydrastis canadensis (goldenseal) are indicated for chills alternating with heat.
Even though I am highlighting this complex for the fall/winter season, fevers are not seasonal. Consider keeping this complex in your medicine cabinet. When you’re feeling crappy, you will be happy – to have this complex in hand.
Note that the remedy indications cited are according to traditional homeopathic practice and not based on double-blind randomized studies funded by pharmaceutical companies. According to the Federal Trade Commission, there is no scientific evidence that homeopathy works. Please refer to www.homeopathyusa.org (American Institute of Homeopathy – the first U.S. professional medical association) for a listing of over 5,000 research articles, or to the Homeopathy Research Institute, based in the United Kingdom, where homeopathy is a popular form of medicine.
