This month we’ll focus on three NEWTON homeopathics® complexes that may be used for conditions other than the complex name, i.e., NEWTON homeopathics® Jet Lag, Varicose Veins, and I-Waker complexes.
NEWTON homeopathics® Jet Lag is formulated for symptoms associated with travel and time change such as fatigue, sleeplessness, headaches, vomiting and cramping. But let’s look outside the box of travel-related jet lag. As many of you know, I was a nurse for 30 years and during my career, there were times I switched shifts. Sometimes I would work the day shift, evening shift and night shift – all within a one-week period. I dare say that I suffered from some of the symptoms of jet lag while traveling no more than 10 miles.
Based on traditional homeopathic practice, Jet Lag contains Alumina (aluminum oxide), Bryonia (wild hops) and Kali iodatum (potassium iodide) indicated for headache. Arnica montana (leopard’s bane) is indicated for exhaustion. Conium maculatum (poison hemlock) is indicated for unrefreshing sleep, and Lycopodium clavatum (club moss) is indicated for those who are drowsy during the day. Arsenicum album (arsenic trioxide) is indicated for disturbed sleep. Lycopus virginicus (bugle weed) and Nux vomica (poison nut) are indicated for indigestion.
NEWTON homeopathics® Jet Lag is not just for travelers experiencing jet lag, but also for shift workers struggling with time changes. Consider introducing Jet Lag to police, nurses, and any of your shift-working friends.
The NEWTON homeopathics® Varicose Veins complex is formulated for associated symptoms such as enlarged veins, swelling, discoloration, pain, stinging and heaviness in the legs.
Many are not aware that hemorrhoids are a type of varicose vein. Although the NEWTON homeopathics® Varicose Veins and Hemorrhoids complexes are two different formulas, in a pinch, you can substitute the Varicose Veins for the Hemorrhoids until you can purchase the Hemorrhoids complex. Both contain Lachesis mutus (bushmaster snake venom), indicated for bluish swelling as in varicose veins and for hemorrhoids. Both contain Naja tripudians (cobra venom), indicated for both crampy pains as in varicose veins and heat in the anal region.
There are numerous single remedies included in the Varicose Veins formula specifically indicated for symptoms of varicose veins, that are not included in the Hemorrhoids formula. Based on traditional homeopathic practice, Varicose Veins contains Carduus marianus (milk thistle) and Lycopodium clavatum (club moss) indicated for cramp-like pain in calves. Vipera berus (German viper venom) and Cholesterinum (cholesterol) are indicated for leg cramps. Crotalus horridus (timber rattlesnake venom) is indicated for when lower limbs go to sleep, and Digitalis purpurea (foxglove) is indicated for swollen feet.
Unlike the NEWTON homeopathics® I-Sleep complex, that is formulated for symptoms associated with sleeplessness, the NEWTON I-Waker complex is not formulated for waking up in the morning, but for waking up internally.
NEWTON homeopathics® I-Waker is formulated for symptoms such as hypersensitivity, debility, glandular swellings, infections and inflammation. Based on traditional homeopathic practice, I-Waker contains Thuja indicated for symptoms that may be related to immune conditions such as emaciation, but also indicated for an introvert. Echinacea, a common herbal, is indicated for abscesses and broken-down or weak constitutions, but also indicated for a person who becomes angry when corrected. Arsenicum album (arsenic trioxide) is indicated for glandular swellings and exhaustion, but also indicated for those who have a nervous constitution. Belladonna (deadly nightshade) is indicated for abscesses, swollen glands, and congestion, but also indicated for those who have light hair, light complexion, and blue eyes. Iodium (iodine) is indicated for great debility and lymphatic swelling, but also indicated for those who have dark hair and a dark complexion. Aloe socotrina (aloe vera) is indicated for those who are elderly, and for those with a broken-down constitution.
Note that the remedy indications cited are according to traditional homeopathic practice and not based on double-blind randomized studies funded by pharmaceutical companies. According to the Federal Trade Commission, there is no scientific evidence that homeopathy works.
